The External / Internal from Empty Head Effects is a unique blend of chorus modulation and fuzz, providing a plethora of dense dream pop and shoegaze tones. Control the modulation rate and depth with the Anxiety and Depth knobs respectively, which can provide many modulation characters ranging from pleasant, watery motion, to more extreme timbral changes. The Separation parameter defines the delay time, with lower settings adding virtually no delay at all, to extended slap-backs when the knob is turned clockwise. Add envelope modulation to your chorus with the Self Mod toggle switch, which allows you to control its movement with the dynamics of your playing. When this toggle is engaged, the delay time will behave much more dramatically, rising in intensity as you play more aggressively. Combining both the LFO and envelope modulation provides deep, complex tones that can be anything from dreamy to nightmarish, all closely dependent on your playing.

The second footswitch engages the Green channel, which pushes the pedal into full-on fuzz territory. Engaging this fuzz channel provides a dramatic gating effect, allowing you to get extremely aggressive sounds out of your instrument, and muting those sounds in an instant by muting your guitar. Adjusting the Unquieting parameter modifies the amount of distortion / fuzz in your signal, providing subtle, murky tones at lower settings, and dense walls of sounds as the amount is increased. Adding distortion directly affects the behavior of the modulation, giving you a more unpredictable movements as the drive is increased.
